Hello and happy spooky season!
Thanks so much to those of you that were able to make it to my Tarot Social Hour two weeks ago! We had a great time getting to know each other, talking about all things witchy and spiritual, sharing our love of tarot cards and looking through each other's decks. I have another event coming up on October 18th where we will be watching The Craft movie and crafting our own tarot cards! Click the button or scroll down to get full details on the event.
This weekend I went sailing with my boyfriend, Sean, and we had a lot of fun. The weather was better than last time I went. It was chilly but sunny the whole time and because it was just the two of us I got to help us dock and steer while Sean was lifting and lowering the sails.
Me on the sailboat. It was chilly but sunny which was nice!
Below is the sailboat we were on. After we went to Orcas Island in early June Sean got into sailing and signed up for a class. He's been going about every week this summer and he's learning how to adjust to the seasons changing and get rain gear for our climate. I have lots of rain gear, not necessarily for being out on the water, but enough to stay dry while hiking. We went out from 9am-2pm and had fun. I think I surprised Sean how into the sailing I was. He also told me I'm a natural at steering which made me happy.
It was a lost of fun and honestly a good amount of work. It does feel like you have to be alert at all times and like I said, I would steer and lookout while Sean was unfurling the sails and securing everything down and into the right place to catch the wind. I also enjoy getting to see the marine life like harbor seals, sea lions, porpoises, birds, and hopefully whales some day! We were out in Commencement Bay and then went across over near Whidbey Island and back. The wind was decent that day but not quite as high as Sean would have liked. It is an incredible feeling when the sails unfurl and catch the wind and everything is quiet and you're cruising along enjoying the views.
It's hard to take a picture of the sailboat while you're on it! But you can see the main sail and then the jib behind it which is the smaller sail with the blue line around the bottom and side of it.
Sailing is an entirely new activity for me and I'm proud of myself for deciding to go out even though our friends were unable to come sailing Saturday. Sometimes I can get in my head about trying new things especially physical activities. But it's been fun over the past year to try to challenge my physical abilities through backpacking for the first time, sailing, and then in two weeks I'll be taking an open water swim lesson in Lake Washington.
I love swimming in lakes during the summers in and around the Greater Puget Sound but I want to be able to extend my outdoor swimming beyond the summer season. Since it's not really something I've done before other than some cold plunges, I am signed up for an individual lesson from an open water swimming coach. I'm a little intimidated by the cold waters around here, like the Puget Sound in the winter but I'd love to have more confidence to open water swim in cold water if I want to.
One thing I've learned over the past 5 years that I've been spending more time homesteading is that being outside in winter helps with the dreary winter weather and lack of light. There is always more light outside in the winter than inside and even when it's cold and rainy you can still have a great time outside if prepared with the right clothing and attitude. I'm excited to add swimming to my fall and winter activities list. Our estimated first frost here where I live is around October 22 so I will be preparing the garden over the next three weeks for potential frost. Last night it got down to 39 degree Fahrenheit at our house so frost is certainly incoming.
If you wanted to attend my Let's Talk Tarot night but were unable to last time, check out details below for my next event!
If you want to explore this topic further you can journal about:
What habits do you change up in the fall?
How do you like to stay active even in the colder months?
How open are you to doing activities you have no experience with? Why is that? Is there something you've been wanting to do but avoiding?
Next Let's Talk Tarot Event:
Craft and The Craft, October 18th 5-7pm at Crescent Moon Gifts
I had a great time last Monday meeting new folks at Townhouse20 in Sumner for my tarot social hour!
My next event will be Craft and The Craft movie watching party! Let's watch the 1996 classic movie The Craft while crafting our own tarot cards! Join us for a magical evening of tarot card creation and making new friends within the vibrant community of pagans and witches. No tarot or art experience needed!
I will bring all the supplies and lead you through the process of creating your own tarot cards. This event will cost $35 due to the supplies needed. Come and hang out with other witches while we usher in the Halloween season with this movie and crafting night!
I'm just a witch looking to save the world through empathy and by empowering people to create the life they want, love who they want, and care for the earth.

Camille's Corner (of the internet) Happy Aries season! I have been doing all the things recently as I'm really feeling fueled by the Aries season fiery energy. I presented for Evergreen Hearts over the weekend in a talk titled Pagan and Polyamorous where I talked about the overlaps in the communities. I am planning to create a workbook with some of the content from my presentation as well as some exercises and resources for folks on this topic. Let me know if that's something you're...
Camille's Corner (of the internet) January is almost over...finally? I don't know about you but I've been seeing the complaint of January feeling so long all over my internet in the past week. I saw on Instagram someone had shared a post that said: 1 thing about January is that its going to make sure you feel all 31 of the days And I really felt that. It does feel long especially when we're in the depths of winter in the Northern Hemisphere and feeling like that's a struggle. I have been...
Camille's Corner (of the internet) Happy Full Moon in Cancer! I had a chill day yesterday as I usually am tired around the Full Moon time. As I've started to pay more attention to my energy levels around the full moon and new moon, I have been working on creating more downtime and space for myself during full moons since my energy is often sapped then. I usually get less sleep and find myself waking up more at night when the moon is out. I got to see her looking full Sunday evening with clear...
